About FSCTM
The not-for-profit Forest Stewardship CouncilTM (FSCTM) was established in 1993 to enhance responsible forest management globally. The non-governmental organization seeks to promote sustainable use and care of forests that is “environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and economically viable” for current and future generations.
Among other activities, FSCTM has set up a series of certifications, including the significant Chain of Custody certification, to promote and deliver its objectives and help companies, users, and consumers of forest-related products assist sustainable development.
FSCTM criteria for its certificates adhere to the highest conservation standards and best practice. Products carrying an FSCTM lable indicate that the materials used come from responsible sources.
By 2017, over 195 million hectares of forest had been certified under FSCTM and over 30,000 FSCTM Chain of Custody certificates issued worldwide.
